IVG Smart Max – Early Hands-On Review for Irish Vapers

Introduction

IVG has been on a roll lately, and their latest release – the Smart Max – is a bold entry into the world of high-capacity pod kits. I had the chance to try out a pre-release sample of this sleek device along with a full set of eight flavours, and after spending a good few days with it, I’ve got plenty to say.

This kit takes what IVG has learned from their earlier pod systems like the IVG Pro and SAVR, and gives it a bit more breathing room – literally. With a 12ml juice capacity and a 1000mAh rechargeable battery, the Smart Max is designed to last. It's built with simplicity in mind, no buttons or settings, just a dual-mode auto-activation that lets you switch between Eco and Boost by simply puffing three times in quick succession. Smart indeed.

Setup – Even Without Instructions, It Makes Sense

My kit arrived without any fancy packaging or manual – just the bare essentials, since it was pre-launch. But even without guidance, the design was intuitive. Each flavour comes with two separate pods: a 2ml top pod with mouthpiece and a 10ml base pod holding the juice. Remove all the seals, click them together, and you’re ready to go.

Thanks to pre-soaked cotton in the 2ml pod, there's no priming time needed – just slot the pod into the device and start vaping.

Display & Modes – No Buttons, Just Brains

The small screen on the device shows battery percentage and a flame icon – one flame for Eco mode, two for Boost mode. Switching modes isn’t obvious at first, but three quick puffs change the setting, which gives you either a more mellow or a more intense draw.

There are no airflow holes to block with your fingers, the body is lightweight and comfortable, and the overall feel is premium without being bulky. I couldn’t clearly see the e-liquid level through the window on the side, but to be fair, this was a prototype. Final versions may be more transparent.

The Vape Experience – IVG Sweet, Cool, and Consistent

As with every IVG pod I’ve tested, the Smart Max is sweet, cool, and intensely flavourful. The draw is MTL-focused with a medium-tight airflow, which is perfect for smokers making the switch.

Let’s get into the flavours. These are 20mg nic salt pods, and there are 20 flavours in total – I got to try 8.

Blue Sour Raspberry

Bright and fruity with a fizzy raspberry kick. Cooling and sweetener are balanced and not overwhelming.

Retro Orange

Tastes like a sherbet mandarin with a playful fizz. Maybe a bit too sweet for me, but my partner loves it.

Triple Mango

Creamy mango with an earthy undertone that makes it feel more natural. No floral weirdness, just solid tropical sweetness.

Lemon Lime

A sharp lemon start with a limey finish. Reminds me of lemon sherbet sweets – refreshing and zingy.

Classic Menthol

Clean peppermint with bold menthol. Sweet, icy, and lingers on the lips – if you like menthol, this one delivers.

Fizzy Cherry

One of my favourites. Juicy cherry with a slight fizz, no harsh marzipan notes. Light and tasty.

Watermelon Strawberry

Sweet watermelon dominates, but the strawberry adds body and rounds off the profile nicely. Summer vibes.

Strawberry Raspberry Cherry

A full-on berry blend. Subtle strawberry, rich raspberry, and vibrant cherry make this a standout all-day vape for fruit lovers.

Final Verdict

The IVG Smart Max is designed with ease in mind. No buttons, no messy refills – just click, puff, and vape. The flavour delivery is excellent, battery life is more than enough for a full day, and the dual-mode system gives you control without complexity.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely – especially for new vapers or anyone looking to replace disposables with something more cost-effective and sustainable.
