Base

For the term base there are two different things in vaping , which might be meant (and result from the context):
First, the connection between the battery / battery carrier and the tank is referred to as the base. The coil head is then screwed into the base. Secondly, the basic liquid can be meant, it is called the base.

Battery

Battery is short for accumulator. The battery provides the electrical energy needed to vaporize the liquid through a heating coil in the clearomizer. Batteries can be charged, but this is not possible in single-phase devices. E-cigarettes use almost exclusively modern lithium-ion batteries, as they have a high energy density in relation to their size. The memory effect - as with older NiMH batteries - is not available with lithium-ion batteries, but they react more sensitively to heat and cold when charging. Battery capacity is expressed in milliamps (abbreviated as mAh).
There are basically two types of e-cigarette batteries: first, special or permanently installed batteries that fit only one or several types of e-cigarettes. Secondly, commercial batteries that snap into the battery carrier/case and are not specifically designed to work in e-cigarettes. The latter type currently uses an 18650 cell, which offers high energy density with compact dimensions.
In the case of a sub-ohm vape, make sure that the battery used is able to provide a sufficiently high discharge current!

The battery life may be affected by how it is charged.

If the battery is constantly charged with fast charging without a smart charger, it will not have a long life.
A charging cycle is a full charge of the battery from 0% to 100%. The charging cycle does not necessarily have to be carried out together with the charging process, double charging from 50% to 100% also corresponds to only one charging cycle. The longest life of a Li-Ion battery is achieved when the charge level is always between 40% and 80% - which, of course, is not practical or practical. However, complete discharge of the battery should be avoided and is generally also avoided by securing the electronics of the e-cigarette.

Base e-liquid

Basic E-Juice is a liquid that has not yet been flavored. This can then be used - by adding flavors - to the self mixing of liquid.
If nicotine is included in the base liquid, it is also referred to as a nicotine base, which is often also indicated in the strength: a nicotine base with 9 mg nicotine is therefore also referred to as 9-base. A base liquid without nicotine is referred to as a 0 base.
