Description

E Cigarette Battery eGo 650mAh – Legacy Integrated Cell (Archive Entry)

Archive Status: This device is preserved for technical and historical documentation purposes within the Vape Museum collection. It represents one of the most widely distributed early-generation rechargeable e-cigarette batteries in Ireland and across the EU.

The eGo 650mAh battery was an integrated lithium-ion power unit designed primarily for use with CE4, CE5 and similar clearomizer systems. It featured a cylindrical form factor with a combined eGo/510 thread interface and was commonly used in first-generation refillable starter kits.

This battery platform played a foundational role in the transition from disposable e-cigarettes to refillable tank systems during the early development phase of regulated vaping hardware.

Technical Overview

Component Specification Operational Context
Battery Capacity 650mAh Entry-level daily usage profile
Cell Type Integrated Lithium-Ion Non-removable internal cell
Output Type Fixed voltage (typically ~3.3V–3.7V) Unregulated or lightly regulated output
Connection eGo outer thread + 510 inner thread Compatible with CE4 / CE5 clearomizers
Charging Interface Proprietary eGo USB charger Screw-on charging adapter
Activation Manual fire button (5-click lock) Basic safety locking mechanism

Operational Characteristics (Historical Context)

  • Designed for high-resistance coils (1.8Ω – 2.4Ω).
  • Optimised for low-power Mouth-To-Lung (MTL) usage.
  • Limited battery management compared to modern chipset-controlled devices.
  • Commonly paired with 1.6ml–2.4ml clearomizer tanks.

Market Evolution

The eGo 650mAh format was gradually replaced by variable-voltage eGo batteries, box-style regulated mods and later by compact pod systems with integrated USB-C charging and improved battery management systems.

Its dual-thread (eGo/510) compatibility helped standardise early ecosystem interoperability in the Irish and EU retail market.

Regulatory & Safety Context – Ireland

This device was widely available before and during the early stages of EU TPD implementation. Later regulatory frameworks in Ireland formalised product notification, packaging standards and capacity limits for nicotine-containing systems (18+ only).

As with all lithium-ion devices, proper charging equipment and safe storage practices were required to reduce risk of cell degradation.
